Description
Pixel perfectly restored from a vintage 1890s postcard.
The old Willemsbrug (William Bridge) connected the right bank of the Nieuwe Maas or New Meuse and the North Island (Noordereiland) and was opened in 1878. The bridge was named after King William III and designed by Christiaan Bonifacius van der Tak.
Willemsbrug played an important part in World War 2. (view Willemsbrug on Wikipedia)
In 1981 the old Willemsbrug was replaced with the new Willemsbrug about 100 meters further east.
