Jules Chéret, art nouveau, 1891, for the french newspaper Le courrier français, picturing a red haired greek goddess with a yellow dress and holding the newspaper, whilst tickling a statue of a statue or devil like figure with a feather. The Courier was a French illustrated weekly founded and directed by Jules Roques. It was published from 1884 to 1913. Jules Chéret (May 31, 1836 – September 23, 1932) was a French painter and lithographer who became a master of Belle Époque poster art. He has been called the father of the modern poster.
