An advertisement for a famous music hall or cabaret in Paris, and the nightly performance of Emilienne d'Alençon. Artist: Jules Chéret Year: 1893 Jules Chéret (May 31, 1836 – September 23, 1932) was a French painter and lithographer who became a master of Belle Époque poster art. He has been called the father of the modern poster. Émilie André or Émilienne d'Alençon, 1869-1946, was a rather famous cabaret artist and a known courtesan.
